sharing the scoop

Here's the Scoop!

Pray that God would stir in our church an authentic hunger for spiritual transformation and lasting kingdom fruit. Ask God to guide our members into a deep, lifelong commitment to spiritual growth.

Through August, we'll have a weekly Game Night for all ages in the Won Way Center starting at 6:30 p.m. Please bring one or more of the following: 1) a game to play, 2) a snack or drink to share, or 3) guests.

FAMILY FILM FRIDAYS

Roughly every other week this summer we will offer an evening of faith building using movies and guided discussion starting at 7:00 p.m.

ZIP, ZAP ZOOM FOR JESUS THIS SUMMER
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - JULY 26-30

This summer we will ZIP into VBS and ZAP into God's Word. We will teach with memorable activities, confess that we BELIEVE in Jesus, our Savior, and then ZOOM out to share Jesus' love in the world. St. Andrew will be transformed into Planet Zoom July 26-30. We have changed the week this year so mark it down as the last week in July! For online registration, click here! (If you have trouble with the above link, here is a downloadable form that can be faxed or brought to the church office.)

We need you! Through the dedication of the 55 volunteers, members and friends, we ministered to 210 children last year with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is never too early to let us know that you can help. Also, your prayers are needed. Ask God to provide us with leaders and helpers for this important mission so that we will be able to bring children to know and grow in Jesus, our Savior!

What is our church's position on... ? A new resource is available, produced by the Office of the President of Synod, called "This We Believe." This 88-page book provides information on 50 topics, from "Abortion" to "Woman Suffrage" and much in between. The St. Andrew church office will have a limited number of these books for sale at a special price of $8 on a first-come-first-serve basis. Or you may order directly from the publisher (for $9 plus s/h) by calling Concordia Publishing House at 1-800-325-3040 or online at www.cph.org

REGISTER YOUR ACTIVE MILITARY FRIENDS AND FAMILY
FOR MINISTRY-BY-MAIL

Help our Lutheran servicemen and women stay spiritually strong while they serve by enrolling them in the Ministry-by-Mail program. The LCMS is the only denomination to support its members serving in the Armed Forces in such a direct way. Servicemen and women receive materials in an initial packet when their name is put into the program, then they regularly receive copies of Portals of Prayer. To add a member or update an address, call 1-800-433-3954 ext. 1337 or e-mail information to lcmschaps@lcms.org.

An online form is available to register congregation members who are in the active military for “Ministry-by-Mail” by clicking here.

SPECIAL NEED AT GOOD SAMARITAN HOMES

We now have 14 group homes and there is always an on-going need to help residents in these homes. Right now they need bath towels and wash cloths. These can be new or "gently-used" in any color. If you wish to help with this project, bring them to church at any time and Vivian Steinsiek will deliver them.

CURB APPEAL

If you would like make a contribution toward our landscaping expenses, including the new service to spray for weeds, please indicate "Curb Appeal" on your checks. Thank you!

NOW AVAILABLE

CD copies of the 8:30 Worship are now available. Call the church office to order.

HOUSEHOLD MAILBOXES

The household mailboxes are located by the choir loft stairway. These are a great place to leave your name tags and correspondence to other members. Be sure to check your mailbox every week. (The flower chart has been relocated farther down the hall.)

REMINDER: MITE BOXES

Mite boxes are collected on the first Sunday of each month in the Narthex.

SIMPLY GIVING®
A SIMPLE CHOICE, A GENEROUS RESPONSE

Simply Giving® is a reliable, safe way to move your stewardship plan into action. It allows you to share your gifts through planned giving and activates your generosity into ongoing stewardship. Because your gift is given consistently, you won't need to play "catch-up" at year-end or worry about forgotten checkbooks or missed Sunday offerings.

But you are not the only one who benefits. Your congregation benefits from steady, more predictable revenues throughout the year, more efficient bookkeeping, and greater confidence in meeting its financial commitments.

There are no fees charged to individuals, churches, Lutheran institutions, or participating Lutheran schools. The minimum contribution amount is $5.00. Funds may be withdrawn once a week, every other week, or monthly. Contributions can be directed to specific funds in the church or to a unified budget. Participants can suspend, change, or stop withdrawals by contacting the institution benefiting from their giving.

Simply Giving forms to begin your planned electronic giving or to change your offering amount can be found in the Narthex.

PRAYER WARRIORS NEEDED

The ministries of St. Andrew Lutheran Church need YOUR PRAYERS!

ECC Ministry: Please pray for our ECC - especially the staff and the children. Also pray that God would bless this wonderful ministry and show us people that are in need of a loving, Christian Early Childhood Center.

Contemporary Worship Service: Please pray that God would open the hearts and minds of the people in and around the Spring Branch area that our service would be a blessing to them, and that God would bless us as we bring the Gospel message of Jesus Christ to people in a different format.

REMARKABLE! RANDALLS GOOD NEIGHBOR PROGRAM

The next time you are at Randalls, pick up a Remarkable Card application at the courtesy booth to fill out and link your card to our Early Childhood Center account (#3600). Randalls will pay us a percentage of our account total, so be sure to use your card every time you shop.

By using your card, you will also be eligible for exclusive discounts, giveaways, enter-to-wins, direct mail rewards and Airmiles.

Print the card below and take it with you to the store as your reminder of our organization's Good Neighbor Program account number to fill in on your Remarkable card application.

COLLECTING ALL ... SOUP LABELS, STAMPS

Saving Campbell's Labels for Education is a fun way to help the Early Childhood Center get free educational merchandise, including computers, sports/fitness equipment and musical instruments.

Leave both Campbell's labels and General Mills box tops in Shatha Razook's mailbox or take to the ECC.

Save a variety of stamps (trim to 1/4 inch around each stamp or leave them on the envelope) and place them in Vi Howe's mailbox. The LWML Daytimers collect them and the proceeds defray costs of mailing packages for Lutheran World Relief. Questions should be directed to Vi Howe.

RECYCLING TO BENEFIT THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

Recycle newspapers, magazines, catalogs and mail 24/7 at our ECC. This is an easy way for you to recycle household paper and help us raise funds for projects like play equipment, landscaping, books, and supplies for the Early Childhood Center. Start saving today! Collect from your neighbors, too!
