We believe that God has blessed each individual with spiritual gifts and abilities to serve Him. Many opportunities to use your God given talents are made available at St. Andrew.

Music Ministries - St. Andrew has a rich tradition in music ministry. St. Andrew is privileged to have a Handbell Choir. In addition, P150 is a musical group that leads the WonWay contemporary worship services. Come and praise God with your voice and/or other musical talent!

The Lutheran Women's Missionary League - "Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him singing with joy." Psalm 100:2. The mission of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) is to assist each woman of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and the Lutheran Church-Canada in affirming her relationship with God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world. The LWML has established various LWML Committees to address the challenging needs that confront us locally and globally. St. Andrew has two women's groups to choose from: Daytimers meets in the morning at 10:00 a.m. on the third Monday of each month and the evening group meets during the Midweek Meal on the third Wednesday of each month. These meetings always begin with a devotional time and prayer. The meetings are open to all women. Please come and enjoy the fellowship.

Prayer Ministry - Prayer is our opportunity to speak with God for ourselves and for our neighbors. God's promise is certain: "The prayer of a righteous man availeth much." Therefore, "pray without ceasing." Visit our Prayer Ministry Page for additional information on this ministry.

Altar Guild - Those who serve in this ministry have the very special and very important task of preparing and maintaining the altar for worship services. They prepare the altar area for each celebration of the Lord's Supper, and change the altar paraments for each season of the church year. The Altar Guild is comprised of both men and women who find great joy in assisting in the worship life at St. Andrew.

Braille - Some of our members have found their place in ministry by working with their hands and hearts in producing copies of the Bible and other devotional writings in braille for the blind and visually impaired. Their work is coordinated with others from around the country by the national organization of Lutheran Braille Workers. The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod has many ministries such as this one. All of them are open to participation by our members and friends.

Houston Good Samaritan Auxiliary - The Good Samaritan Auxiliary is a women's ministry which serves the Bethesda/Good Samaritan Home in Cypress, Texas. The Good Samaritan Home is a ministry of the Lutheran Church to the mentally challenged. The home not only provides supervised housing, but training in life skills and job skills. All of this takes place in a Christian atmosphere that teaches the residents about their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Vacation Bible School - Each summer, St. Andrew reaches out to many children through Vacation Bible School. The children have a great deal of fun learning about the saving love of Jesus Christ! This ministry requires many volunteers to help with teaching, crafts, refreshments, and snacks. We can find a place for your help as well! To obtain more information, please call the church office at (713) 468-9565.

Other Activities - We share the Good News of God's love worldwide. Through St. Andrew's membership in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a church body with over 6,000 congregations, we minister to many individuals. Financial support is also generated for local food pantries, the Lutheran Hour, Lutheran Television, Concordia University at Austin, Good Samaritan Lutheran Home in Cypress, and a host of other valuable ministries in God's kingdom.

Many other ministries take place at St. Andrew! These are offered as samples of things that God's people are doing as they seek to live out their Christian lives in service to their Lord! Come and get involved! You'll be glad you did!
