Church
History
Yesterday
Early in 1954, the Houston Area Missions Committee and the Texas District Mission
Board selected the West Spring Branch area as a most promising site for a new
Lutheran mission. A beautiful five acre, wooded tract near the intersection of
Long Point and Witte Road was purchased.
St. Andrew Lutheran Church was officially organized on November 22, 1954, with
36 adults and 29 children becoming members. Ground was broken for the church on
February 10, 1957, and the sanctuary was dedicated August 25, 1957.
Today
As St. Andrew enters its sixth decade, the Lord's blessings are reflected in the
following statistics:
768 children and 112 adults came into God's
family through Holy Baptism.
1,385 persons made public profession of their
faith before the Lord's altar through Confirmation.
458 marriages were solemnized and blessed
by God's word.
God has blessed St. Andrew for over 50 years. We pray His continued blessing upon
us and through us!
